Accessibility Statement

CuraCare is committed to being accessible to all users. We design for families of every ability so that everyone can find care for their loved ones with confidence. Last updated March 15, 2026.

1. Our Commitment

CuraCare is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We believe that everyone — regardless of ability, technology, or circumstance — deserves equal access to information about senior living options.

We design and develop our platform to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines are the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility, and Level AA compliance ensures our platform works well for the widest range of users.

Accessibility is not an afterthought at CuraCare — it is a core design principle. Given that our audience includes older adults and their families, many of whom may use assistive technologies or have age-related visual, motor, or cognitive considerations, we take this responsibility especially seriously.

2. Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following accessibility features across our platform:

Semantic HTML

Our pages use proper semantic HTML elements (headings, landmarks, lists, tables, forms) to ensure that content structure is conveyed correctly to assistive technologies. This allows screen readers to navigate efficiently and provides meaningful context for all content.

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements on CuraCare — including links, buttons, form fields, and navigation menus — are fully operable via keyboard. Users can navigate using Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, and arrow keys as appropriate. Visible focus indicators are provided for all focusable elements.

Screen Reader Support

Our platform includes ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) labels, roles, and properties where native HTML semantics are insufficient. Images include descriptive alt text, and decorative images are properly hidden from assistive technology. Interactive components announce their state and purpose.

Color Contrast

Text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio requirements: a minimum of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. We do not rely on color alone to convey information — icons, text labels, and patterns are used alongside color indicators.

Touch Targets

All interactive elements have a minimum touch target size of 44x44 CSS pixels, making them easy to tap on mobile devices and accessible for users with motor impairments.

Responsive Design

CuraCare is fully responsive and works across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Content reflows properly at all viewport sizes without horizontal scrolling, and text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.

Clear Language

We write in plain, clear language that is easy to understand. Care types and medical terminology are explained in simple terms. Our AI assistant Amica is specifically designed to communicate in plain language accessible to all reading levels.

3. Assistive Technology Compatibility

CuraCare is designed to be compatible with common assistive technologies, including:

  • Screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS, TalkBack)
  • Screen magnification software
  • Speech recognition software (Dragon NaturallySpeaking)
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Switch access and alternative input devices
  • Browser-based accessibility extensions and tools

We test our platform with multiple screen readers and browsers to ensure broad compatibility. If you encounter issues with a specific assistive technology, please let us know.

4. Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, we acknowledge the following areas where we are actively working to improve:

  • Third-party content: Some photos and content sourced from Google Places may not include alt text descriptions. We are working to provide AI-generated alt text for these images.
  • Map interactions: Our embedded maps rely on third-party mapping services whose accessibility is outside our direct control. We provide text-based alternatives (address, directions) for all map content.
  • PDF documents: Some linked external documents (e.g., CMS inspection reports) may not be fully accessible. We provide summaries of key information in accessible HTML format where possible.

We regularly audit our platform for accessibility issues and prioritize fixes in our development roadmap.

5. Request Accommodations

If you need information from CuraCare in an alternative format or require an accommodation to use our platform, we are happy to help. We can provide:

  • Information in alternative formats (large print, plain text)
  • Assistance navigating the platform or finding facility information
